Judge Not.

Hello Guys,

For sometime now, it has been on my mind to write about this but being caught up with too many activities, finally decided to fix  time for this write up and i hope you guys can learn from this.

Firstly, I will like to give a definition of what "judgement" is, according to Meriam Webster dictionary, it's  the act or process of forming an opinion or making a decision after careful thought.

Some Christians today have become too weak in this aspect, inability to know when to speak and to keep the tongue away from evil. I will try break it down to its simplest form to avoid confusion.
Let's take a look at the Word of God:
         Mathew 7 verse 1-5

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.3“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.(verse 12)

In the world  we are today, have heard quiet a number of people say "who are you to judge me?" "who are you to tell me how to live my life?" some even say "only God can judge me".I personally think people who say such words, perhaps not all  have had unkind words said to them, they have been made to feel very uncomfortable with what they are doing wrong that they really do have to speak back, some even go ahead to change churches because they feel the pastor is judging them and who are they to tell them how to leave their lives?.

People forget  they do not own there lives, the scripture says:
Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own;  it is not for them to direct their steps.(Jeremiah 10:23).

Sin is sin and its the preachers right to always preach the Word of God in
Love, ability to preach the undiluted word of God.Remember it is not your pastor's Words rather it is the word of God, let's call a spade a spade. People tend to prefer to listen to what sounds pleasing to the ears rather than knowing what the Word of God says about it.People try to justify sins by such actions which isn't proper.

Right Judgement Vs Wrong Judgement

Its all about the right kind of judgement, how to rightly approach people showing the love of God, never approach someone with a fault finding attitude, when your desire is to be picky, seeing the bad in them and no intentions of helping them, make it very clear that you are not in the business of tearing them down. A man of God I love so much says it takes 5 positive Charges to override a negative Charge, before you say something negative to someone, make sure u have at least deposited or made 5 good points about them.
It is very wrong to use the words of our mouths to condemn and  criticize others without even knowing what they are going through, you have no idea what made that person who they are today.
We should try balance things up at the same time, showing people love doesn't mean we should be too blinded to correct them, remember its not just about loving them, its about speaking the truth and making there life's better.

5 things to remember before being too quick to judge

  1. When you do not have all the facts.
James 1:19(new international version) My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

The devil is a liar and all he does is inject words into our minds that ain't true about some certain individuals, he makes us feel unloved with who we are and tries to make our imaginations not line up with  the word of God. The scripture says 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2nd corinthians 10;5).

2We may not always know the contents of another persons heart.

We were all brought up differently and we all have our various beliefs, different cultures and traditions, we seem to reason differently cause of how we were raised/different environment. We do not know why people do what they do so we shouldn't be too quick to judge and spread slander, it is very inappropriate.Remember when you judge another it doesn't show who they are, it shows who you are.

    3. Whatever you sow you shall reap.

"For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured unto you". If only people can always walk in the consciousness of this fact, they will perhaps be less judgmental, personally I can say I have learnt some lessons of life in this aspect, and ye shall know the truth, the truth shall set you free.

4.  We all have fallen short of the Glory of God
" for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)"
When you approach someone in sin, remember you are not God, the fact the person is weak in that aspect doesn't make you any better, remember we are walking towards perfection and there is no one without sin. We often are blind to our own prejudice/ hypocritical spirits.
We  do not even have a glimpse how often we offend God and he is always there to forgive our sins, so who are we to judge another? or make them feel like the only sinner. when we have infact done worse.
One of my goals this year is to make my life my business, and its the second  month already, believe me its been really helpful, getting to realize who I am day by day is really amazing, knowing fully yet am still on process and the best is yet to come.
.
 5.  You will face God in Judgement
We all are going to give accounts of our doings (Romans 14:12) both wrongdoings and rightful thoughts, we will all be held responsible for our actions at the end of the day.

  1. Very timely and thought provoking. But if I may ask what happens when judging others becomes second nature to you? How do you overcome the urge to judge at the slightest instance?

    2. I can say it's a gradual process,it can't happen all of a sudden. It has to do with renewal of your mind, the scripture says "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."(romans 12:2)Be determined in your mind that you are working towards not being judgemental and ensure that you are filled with the word of God,by the help of the holy spirit, you will be able to overcome. ☺☺
